Here at the very windy foot of the Flatiron
Building at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue and
Broadway in 1902 — gentlemen — with a minute
to spare — would stop to gaze upon an upturned skirt.
This pastime became so popular that a patrolman
was assigned this spot to shoo away the oglers —
his post — 23 Skidoo.
